Using Water Weights® and a reliable rigging plan, the team delivered a safe, efficient and space-optimized solution within a tight timeframe—meeting all operational and safety requirements without delays.
The load test remains one of the largest we’ve undertaken in the Kingdom.
Client Requirement
The client required a 1760t crane load test onboard an offshore construction vessel operating in the waters off KSA.
Challenges Faced
With limited time for execution and strict safety protocols, the challenge lay in delivering a compliant, efficient, and low-footprint testing solution — while meeting tight logistical and operational constraints.
Unique Solution Delivered
Unique Group deployed a client-approved rigging plan tailored to the available space and operational needs. All equipment used for the test — including Water Weights ® water bags, load monitoring devices and rigging gear — was fully certified and operated within Working Load Limits (WLL). Four trained UG personnel were mobilized to site, managing rigging, filling, monitoring, discharging and overseeing the full execution of the load test.
Rather than using conventional spreader beam combinations or rigid weights, our team executed the test using water bags without spreader beams. This decision significantly reduced the required setup footprint, simplified logistics and streamlined the entire process — making it ideal for use aboard the vessel.
As a result, the 1760t crane load test was completed safely, efficiently and on schedule. The client’s safety and operational standards were fully met, with no incidents or delays reported. Our approach enabled quicker mobilization and demobilization, providing a clear advantage in offshore construction environments where every hour counts.
